CLIENT GOALS

Holiday Valley’s vision for the Tamarack Club was providing year-round accommodations that enrich the guest experience connecting them with the resort’s seasonal amenities.  Our assignment was to assist the resort in crafting a distinctive solution, to create spaces that provide unique and memorable encounters and to help separate the resort from their competition.  The design was to reflect the image of the Holiday Valley while respecting localized surroundings.   We were instructed to draw inspiration from the project setting and design a solution that has a relationship with place and is responsive to the user’s needs.  The Facility also needed to be delivered within a financial proforma.

SOLUTIONS

The Tamarack Club is a multi- purpose complex, that revolutionizes the Base Area at this destination resort. It includes 78 luxury time-share condominium units ranging in size from Studio Units of 465 square feet up to 3-bedroom Executive and Penthouse Suites of 1,500 sf to 1,800 sf respectively.  The facilities are situated in the Main Base area and adjacent to the Clubhouse Chalet with direct access to four major chair lifts and an 18-hole championship golf course. Tamarack is situated slope-side with views of the many year-round outdoor activities available at Holiday Valley.  Amenities include; a Health Club, a Destination Spa, an Indoor/ Outdoor Heated Pool; three outdoor pools; a Restaurant/Lounge with views of the ski slopes and lifts, an Owners Club and Library, Underground Parking, and Permanent Ski/Golf Lockers for condominium owners. The lower two levels offer ski in-ski out access to the facility.  The project was delivered using an integrated delivery strategy with a project Guaranteed Maximum Cost which enabled pre-selling of the fractional units.   Construction was scheduled to minimize disruption to the winter and summer operations and to come on line for the start of the ski season.

RESULTS

“Families can enjoy more elbow room at this slope side lodging at Holiday Valley Resort, which offers comfortable suites for up to 10 guests, ranging from spacious standard suites with kitchenettes and sitting areas, which sleep four, to two-floor condominium-style Executive Suites with three bedrooms, three bathrooms and full kitchens which sleep eight to 10. After an active day, enjoy use of a heated indoor/outdoor pool. Winter visitors will appreciate the attached parking garage.”
