Sustainable Design Portfolio

Bethel Park School District, Replacement High School, Bethel Park, PA

This project is being designed with a LEED approach but the District has decided to forgo incurring the expense associated with documentation and processes necessary to submit the project for “official” LEED certification. The anticipated completion date is 2011.

LEAF Education Building, Erie, PA

Currently being designed with a sustainable design solution. Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park (LEAF) as part of their long-range master plan is currently designing a multi-purpose Educational Center for the park. WMF is providing design services pro-bono in support of this valued community asset. Configured to take advantage of the existing slope this two-story structure comprises approximately 1600 square feet and will be built in accordance with sustainable design directives.

Cleveland State University, New Recreation Center, Cleveland, OH

This project received LEED Certification in 2008. WMF, in association with Sasaki Associates, was selected by Cleveland State University for the design of their new signature 136,000 square foot state of the art recreation center. The building was designed to maximize openness and visual awareness of the facility’s activities, both from the interior and exterior. Innovative design solutions were implemented to achieve a LEED certified building with little to no additional costs. Features include an interior three-story atrium, gymnasium, a multiple athletic center, multipurpose rooms, racquetball and squash courts, running and jogging track and over 17,000 square feet of weight and fitness areas. An in-house wellness center provides coursework and training for health and fitness. The building was strategically located adjacent to the existing physical education building that affords access to an Olympic-sized pool, training pool, and three-court varsity basketball arena.

Cleveland State University, New Student Housing, Cleveland, OH

This project is LEED Registered. The anticipated completion date is 2010. WMF designed 700 beds on the CSU campus. This project is highly visible in an urban campus setting and includes a retail component on the first floor in alignment with the Euclid Avenue Corridor Improvement Project. The project will also include a new building for the Admissions Office and a 150+ space parking ramp.

Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, Privatized Housing Development, Edinboro, PA

This project is LEED Registered. The anticipated completion date is 2011 and is a phased replacement of all student-housing beds on the Edinboro Campus. Approximately 1,600 beds in suite and semi-suite style configuration will be constructed on the northeast edge of campus. The project was sited to enhance the vitality of the campus as the Student Center expansion comes on line. The final phase includes a new dining hall to replace the existing Van Houten Dining Hall.

Penn State Erie – The Behrend College, Admissions and Alumni Welcome Center, Erie, PA

This project is LEED Registered. The anticipated completion date is 2010. Designed to be a major gateway structure for visitors, alumni, and students. Housing the admissions and financial aid departments, it will also provide a new home for Behrend's alumni activities as well as an indoor-outdoor general reception and presentation space.
